Harbor Loop Information Booth

In 2009, due to either budget cuts or the Building Center wanting to install new landscaping or some combination of the two, the Harbor Loop Information Booth was closed permanently.  The chamber operates a visitor's center at the 33 Commercial St. location and on 127 as you enter Rockport.  The Rockport Information Booth was renovated and although I haven't seen it, I understand it looks wonderful.

I would very much like to see an information booth for Gloucester located on Rogers St., Eastern Ave., or Washington St. (by Friendly's).  I have also heard suggestions of Crafts Rd. and the White-Ellery House on Grant Circle.

Rockport - How effective is your information booth located at the 'Entrance' to Rockport?
Chamber - What was the traffic count at the Harbor Loop Booth vs. the Commercial St. location?
Does anyone know?

I believe the Rockport Information Booth, when manned, is our largest and most lucrative asset. The people who work from July till Columbus day do a fabulous job in directing tourists and in keeping track of inn vacancies in town and direct referral to those inns. The new building does look great. Clean fresh, visible and inviting.

Does anyone keep a count of business derived from the Rockport Information Booth? Just a rough percentage would help. Does the booth call you directly to make the reservations or just refer tourists?
