City Council Votes Against Business Again!
By a 6-3 vote, the city council has passed the rooms tax increase to the
full 2%. That makes the rooms tax a whooping 11.7%! Ignoring the fact that
less visitors will come, our direct competition does not have the tax, and
that the businesses affected have already had to slash their budgets to make
up for declining revenue, your elected officials felt it was easier to raise
our taxes than cut the budget.

I can't stand it when local government can't see the forest through the trees. All there doing here is giving our direct competitors an edge. They will be able to offer lower rates, and in the tourism climate we have now can we afford this?
